Taking Back My Power

KOGI and WEL
Originally uploaded by luckyno3.

I don't exactly know if this counts as taking back my power, but today I found out that I will attend the Summer Technology Institute with the approval of my Principal and my district. I was all set to tell them to take a flying leap and do it anyway. (I can be very headstrong and I had made up my mind to go.) This way feels much better, however. I am STILL looking for other employment. I will not leave packing a resentment, however. In the final analysis, perhaps this is where the real power lies. I have achieved closure. -sigh- Two days left of school. But then... who's counting.

Resistance at the LOC

These Glasses Are Too Heavy
Originally uploaded by bonnyK.

This year has been a challenge for sure at the old LOC. Support has been minimal and priorities have been reversed. I managed to pull it all together by the end of the year but mannnnnn... what a struggle. Now, I have asked for permission to go to a training and I am getting poor recognition, no backup and zero support. Color me frustrated and demoralized. Color me in the job market.

Here is a postscript: At the end-of-the-year, last-day, admin-sponsored breakfast there were "Joke Awards" handed out. Although I said a silent prayer for anonymity, I was jokingly recognized for 1.) Complaining because my room leaked water 2.) Sending a lot of students to the principals office and 3.) Arriving late at 7:00AM staff meetings. The bottom line... I need to find a new job on the sole count of having lost my sense of humor!

CLAD is Finished

Moment

What a giant pain in the neck! My district, the State, all after me to finish the coursework and get my CLAD (California Language Acquisition Development - I think) credential. Well, the paperwork is finished and I have the darn thing! This child's face is an excellent reflection about how I feel about the whole thing! I am GLAD it is done!
